PART THREE (ROUND TWO)
PRESENTED BY
UPDATED CONTINUOUSLY, April 28,
2007
Round three begins. Finally. The
Oakland Raiders are on the clock with the No. 65 overall pick.
Raiders pick defensive end Quentin Moses.
Saints are on the clock.
New Orleans takes cornerback Usama Young of
Kent State.
Mike Mayock says he's the first non-combine
invitee of the year to be drafted.
As to the Bucs' drafting of Sabby Piscitelli:
"Did Tampa draft Joanie Cunningham's best friend?"
Says another reader: "Sabby Piscitelli?
I had that last night at The Olive Garden." (We're Italian here, but we
think that sh-t is funny. Just don't call us greasy-headed shmoes.)
Cowboys on the clock at No. 67.
Dallas takes tackle James Marten, of Boston
College.
Bucs on the clock.
Tampa takes linebacker Quincy Black, of New
Mexico.
Cards take linebacker Buster Davis at No.
69, of Florida State.
Broncos select tackle Ryan Harris of Notre
Dame with the No. 70 pick.
Miami is on the clock at No. 71. This thing
is suddenly starting to move.
By the way, 131 minutes until the arrest counter
hits 10. We are retreating to our bunker.
Dolphins take running back Lorzenzo Booker
from Florida State. (Farewell, Ricky?)
Bobby Petrino on NFLN looks like a school kid
wearing a jacket and tire for the first time in his life.
Either Bobby Petrino is short or the woman
interviewing him is tall.
Vikes on the clock at No. 72.
Minnesota takes cornerback Marcus McCauley
of Fresno State.
Texans at No. 73 take receiver Jacoby Jones,
of Lane.
A reader wants to know if the arrest counter will
reset if a mob of Eagles fans storm the team's complex. (Yes, but only if
a team employee is arrested in the process. So make sure you tell Donovan
when to meet you there.)
Crap we missed pick No. 74. We'll find it.
Falcons on the clock.
Falcons take receiver Laurent Robinson of
Illinois State.
At No. 74, Ravens took receiver Yamon Figurs of
Kansas State.
49ers take receiver Jason Hill, of
Washington State.
When Vikings coach Brad Childress was on ESPN, we
received e-mails comparing him to everyone from Ned Flanders to John Clayton.
Says a reader: "I'd make fun of Childress
right now, but I'm afraid he'd send me an e-mail virus."
Steelers take tight end Matt Spaeth.
Packers are on the clock.
Green Bay selects receiver James Jones of San
Jose St.
Jon Gruden on NFLN -- we wonder whether Dick
Cheney ever dated his mother.
Crap we're wearing down and missing picks -- we've
missed one.
Titans are at No. 80.
Tennessee takes receiver Paul Williams of
Fresno State.
At No. 79, the Jags took receiver Mike Walker
of UCF.
And that's eight receivers in nine picks, broken
up only by a tight end.
Giants are up at No. 81.
We missed it earlier when Andy Reid suggested
something to Meshawn about playing for the Eagles. Hello, tampering.
Giants take defensive tackle Jay Alford of
Penn State.
Chiefs on the clock -- we bet they take Michael
Bush.
A reader on the run on receivers: "Did Matt
Millen take over as everyone's G.M.?"
Trey Wingo -- Mike Vick didn't donate $170,000; he
helped raise it.
Chiefs take defensive tackle Tank Tyler.
A reader pointed out that Alex Flanagan of NFLN
flubbed her own name while doing an update.
Panthers on the clock.
Carolina takes defensive end Charles Johnson
at No. 83.
After hearing Sean Salisbury defend Mike Vick, a
reader predicts that Salisbury will soon realize that he has herpes.
Rams on the clock, and St. Louis takes
cornerback Jonathan Wade of Tennessee.
Lane Kiffin admits that the Raiders have shopped
Randy Moss.
At No. 85, the Seahawks take Brandon Mebane,
defensive lineman.
Reader says: "That wasn't Lane Kiffin.
That was little Timmy Wagner the shortstop on my American Legion team."
Jags and Ravens work a trade.
Baltimore takes tackle Marshall Yanda of
Iowa.
Eagles take Stewart Bradley, who has
Sanjaya hair.
Saints on the clock at No. 88.
If round three ends before midnight, we'll jump
back over to the rumor mill and bang out a few stories, such as the latest
regarding Randy Moss.
Saints take guard Andy Alleman, Akron.
The Soup Nazi is on NFLN.
Packers on the clock.
Coughlin to Jessie Palmer: "You're right
where I figured you'd be. Right on the TV set."
Packers take safety Aaron Rouse of Virginia
Tech.
Eagles are on the clock.
Images of Mike Vick in his suit. We wonder
is he had napkins with chewed up mutton in the pockets.
Philly takes running back Tony Hunt from Penn
State. (He will be the human sacrifice to appease the locals.)
Patriots on the clock.
Apparently, there is strong talk that the Titans
are trading Michael Griffin to the Chargers for Michael Turner. (But then
why in the hell did the Titans draft a running back in round two?)
Bills take quarterback Trent Edwards at No. 92.
The Bears are on the clock at No. 93.
Who in the hell was drafted at No. 91? Okay,
it was Oakland, who took tackle Mario Henderson in a pick picked up from
the Pats.
Bears take Garrett Wolfe, running back from
Northern Illinois.
And then the Bears take linebacker Michael Okwo
of Stanford.
Colts take cornerback Daymeion Hughes.
Chargers take, at No. 96, linebacker Anthony
Waters.
Three picks left on the day.
49ers take Ray McDonald, Florida defensive
end.
Colts are up with the next-to-last pick of the
day.
The Raiders did not give up Randy Moss for that
third-round pick; the Raiders gave up their third-round pick in 2008.
The Colts select defensive tackle Quinn Pitcock.
(Sounds like a butler.)
Last pick of round three -- the Raiders have
taken receiver Johnnie Lee Higgins of UTEP. (And there was video of
Higgins with a great Bobby Brown haircut, circa 1986.)
That's all for the first three rounds. More
than eleven hours.
We're jumping back to the rumor mill for a while.
Thanks for tuning in. See you tomorrow.
