NEW ORLEANS SAINTS

POSTED 11:13 p.m. EDT, August 2, 2007

Lance Moore has the inside track to take over kick and punt return duties.

Quarterbacks coach Pete Carmichael says he's glad he didn't leave for a promotion in Miami.

Storms cut practice short on Thursday.

RB Reggie Bush made a nice move and got free in the secondary on Thursday.

Gone are G Wes Sims and WR Rhema McKnight, replaced with G Tim Duckworth and WR Chris Jackson.

QB Drew Brees has looked good, but threw an interception on Thursday via a back-foot pass to Jason Craft.

DT Lance Legree recently was placed on IR.

The Saints are waiting for a safety to emerge as a leader of the defensive backfield.

TE Eric Johnson could become a real threat in the Saints offense.

CB Jason David has been showing off a Super Bowl ring earned as part of a team that viewed him as such an important part of it that . . . it allowed him to leave via restricted free agency.

Mr. Vowel explains what made him keep trying to stick in the NFL.

Coach Sean Payton excused RB Aaron Stecker from Tuesday night's practice so he could be present for his son's birth.

DE Rob Ninkovich suffered a potentially serious knee injury on Monday.

TE Eric Johnson was Bill Walsh's final draft pick with the 49ers.

CB Fred Thomas is trying to put his past in his behind, or something.

The Saints receiving depth chart is Marques Colston at No. 1 and nine guys tied for No. 2.

Terrance Copper is seeing most of the action as the No. 3 wideout.

Aaron Stecker, Lance Moore, Terrance Copper, Devery Henderson, Robert Meachem, Tramain Hall, Antonio Pittman, and Pierre Thomas took turns returning kicks on Sunday.

At least DT Hollis Thomas is honest:  "I'm a fat guy, and I'll always be fat."  (Right up until that point where his heart explodes.)

The Cardboard Box is enjoying his time in the sun.

RB Deuce McAllister talks about a variety of topics.

DT Hollis Thomas reported above his assigned weight of 335 pounds.

First-round WR Robert Meachem is looking good so far, which is a far cry from his work during the offseason.

Then again, how hard is it to burn a Tampa 2 corner?

WR Terrance Copper made the play of the day on Friday.

Coach Sean Payton was pleased with the first day of practice.

Here are 10 questions for the 2007 Saints, who face the highest expectations in franchise history.

And the local media is doing nothing to rein in those expectations.

21 of 22 starters are back for the Saints.
