E-MAILS WE LIKE

Back by popular demand is the "E-mails We Like" feature.  We're going to do our best to keep it updated regularly.

The first version focuses on (surprise, surprise) a certain star quarterback who is accused of doing some bad stuff.

7/18/07:  I am embarrassed as an NFL fan to have this happen in the sport I love.  I am also ashamed that the Commissioner won't suspend him, as of yet.  Hopefully, once the NFL and the Falcons get a grip of what the charges are (I mean, did 17 dog carcasses just fall out of the sky?), I am hopeful that action will be taken.  As of now, the NFL is just like the WWE and the steroids issue; they have their heads in the sand.  They evidently have no shame.  They will suspend Pacman Jones for "embarrassing" the league with his incidents, but they won't do anything with this nutjob who allegedly took part or ok'd wetting the dogs and electrocuting them, hanging them, etc.  Nice.  That is more "embarrassing" than "making it rain" ever could be.  If no action is ever taken against Vick, then I may just stop watching.

7/18/07:  The three arrested doggie daddy's, they will turn on Vick like a rabid pit bull. We will find out that Vick was supporting this organized criminal enterprise with the location, property, money to feed and house not only the dogs but the three who were indicted with Vick.  The Feds probably have canceled checks, bank statements, and other pieces of paper evidence to link Vick to dog fighting.  The question still remains of whether or not the Feds can put together a RICO charge and confiscate everything Vick owns, houses, money, etc., etc., everything.  And let's not forget there will be other witnesses coming forward who saw Vick dog fighting in other states plus the gambling which is the alpha charge in this indictment.  See, I told you that you guys at PFT did the heavy lifting in this dog fighting case when most of the "drive by" media said nothing about it.  Boomer is giving you guys a well deserved "attaboy".  You guys really led this investigation starting with that idiot prosecutor from Virginia.  Just think of all the Sprint phones you'll be selling.

7/18/07:  Here in Hawaii, the word "ookie" is a slang word for vagina.  No kidding.

7/18/07:  If Vick actually takes the field this season I will gladly get kicked out of Raymond James Stadium for hitting that bastard with a full $16 beer.

7/18/07:  Maybe the best thing to come from this Vick incident is we get to really differentiate who in the media "gets it," and who are the apologist hacks who are afraid to take a stand.  Len's piece on ESPN.com read like a fifth-grade paper afraid to take a side.  He has zero credibility and I'm glad your site is on top of it and not afraid to call him out.  It's inexplicable how so many writers keep repeating "innocent until proven guilty."  That's the standard for a criminal court, and I don't think a billion-dollar industry should have to be obligated to have a guy around who is getting indicted by federal courts.

7/18/07:  Has anyone other than your site addressed how stupid Vick is?  The guy has numerous multi-million dollar contracts and a starting quarterback job, and he is involved in a dog fighting ring for $20,000 gambling pots.  This is insane, he knew it was illegal.  Heck, he set up the operation at his house to hide it, yet he risks everything for this crap, it's insane.  No wonder he can't learn how to play quarterback in the NFL.

7/18/07:  Do you think the director of NFL security is in deep sh-t?  After all, the locals had an inkling as to what was going on and the puppy love web site was no secret.

7/18/07:  If Arthur Blank needs to be loyal to anyone, it is to his players and staff that aren't engaged in federal and state felonies.  If I were a Falcons player I'd feel like every moment without a Vick condemnation is a slap in the face.

7/18/07:  I'd like to thank everyone at PFT for not letting the Vick case drift into the sunset without any ramifications.  In my eyes it was the diligent effort by you and your people to keep this in the news, now Ookie is going to jail for a long time.  If anyone took the time to read the indictment there is no question Vick is going down for this.

7/18/07 (from a member of the "real" media who cannot be named):  I am convinced that the only reason the feds got involved in this case is because of ProFootballTalk.com.  No other media, mainstream or not, kept the heat on like you did.  Never underestimate the power of your site again.

7/18/07:  As a Bengals fan I have to say THANK YOU MIKE VICK for hopefully getting us off Leno and Letterman.

7/18/07:  Hmmm...the Falcons were 7-9 last year.  According to the indictment, Bad Newz Kennels was 10-6.  Maybe Ookie is better off staying with the dog fighting.
